Toddler Play
Toddler Toys and Play For Development
Jan Murray
Babies become toddlers at 12 months old. By this age they will have gained about triple their birth weight and by the end of their toddler stage at three years, they will have developed 90% of their adult brain.
In addition to physical growth, toddler-hood is a period during which children will experience great social, emotional and cognitive development.

Parenting Manuals
Make parents feel inadequate, study says:
Jan Murray
According to Dr Angela Davis "Parenting manuals claim to offer a source of support for new mums, but a new study has found that rather than being confidence -building, they may in fact make new mums feel inadequate"
After reading this article, I was encouraged and relieved to receive a review written by Cindy about my parenting manual 'mum & baby together we learn'.
"As a new Mum I have been in search for information from breastfeeding to fingerfoods.I have read many other baby books and have gained a lot of information, but no other book I have come across exposes the reader to the real face of motherhood. Jan welcomes you into her life with her personal experiences, giving you the information you want but also the story behind her journey as a mother. I felt inspired and equiped with tools to use straight away, without the niggling guilt of not doing things 'just like the book'. You won't be disappointed!"
If you would like a copy of 'mum & baby together we learn' ask for it at your local book store. If they don't have it please ask them to order it in through Bermingham Books Distributors.

Coconut Oil
Coconut Oil & Precious Babies
Megan Knight
An important component of breast milk is medium-chain fatty acids (MCFA’s), principally lauric acid.
Lauric acid is also the primary saturated fatty acid found in coconut oil …
Some of the important reasons medium-chain fatty acids are included in milk are improved nutrient absorption and digestive function.
They also help to regulate blood sugar levels …. and protect the baby from harmful micro-organisms. The baby’s immature immune system is supported by the antibacterial, antiviral, antifungal, and antiparasitic properties of these vital fatty acids. In fact, without these unique saturated fats, the baby would probably not survive long.
For these reasons, MCFA’s are added to most, if not all, baby formulas. Yet these fatty acids are not exactly the same as those found naturally in mother’s milk. At one time manufacturers used pure coconut or palm kernel oil and many brands still do...

Supporting Destiny Rescue
Jan Murray
As you probably are aware, Settle Petal supports the work of Destiny Rescue. I travelled overseas to see what they do for myself and it's real and not a scam. Here is what they were able to achieve in 2011 and it feels great to know that our Settle Petal community has been apart of it, thankyou.
IT'S A WRAP... HIGHLIGHTS FROM 2011
*105 girls rescued worldwide! These girls were extracted from perpetual rape, pain and degradation in Cambodia, Thailand, Mozambique, and Laos.
*Destiny Rescue established new rescue homes in Chiang Rai, Chiang Mai, Mae Sai, and Laos.
*Production House - The first 2 floors of our Training and Production Centre was completed and is now in full use.
*Baby nursery - An area was set aside as a day care for the babies and infants of our rescued girls, offering them the option to learn a trade and earn an income while working in our Production House.
*Several self-sustainable business projects were piloted in Thailand and Cambodia, including a coffee plantation, as well as pig, mushroom and fish farming.
*This year we established our first Boys Home. Currently housing boys in our trafficking prevention program, this property is also being utilized to grow produce, and breed fish and geese.
*Rec Room - We now have a designated area at our Chiang Rai Rescue property for the girls to enjoy rest, movies, table tennis and karaoke.
